This image reminds of Philippe Saint-Laudy, because of how I have chose to let colour feature strongly in it and the main focus of the photo is nature (the sky and the sunset's effect on it). I have also chosen to make the rest of the photo close to silhouette, as I believe it makes the colour in the rest of the photo seem more vibrant and pop out more. this is a technique that Laudy also used in some of his photos, for example:

What makes a good photo?

What makes a good photo?
When it comes to taking a good photo there are many basics that need to be considered. These affect how the image will come out and what kind of photographic category it would fall into.
The things that you would be looking for before taking a photo are:
Lighting
Photographic effects
Positioning
Perspective
Colour
Focus
Centre of interest
Composition
Format
Viewpoint
Texture
Rule of thirds
Leading lines
Narrative
Repitition

Brief

For this project, I will be creating a set of 5 different photos based around the subject of sheffield life and the city itself, which would be displayed in the Millennium gallery along with other students.
We will also be creating a poster which would be used to advertise our exhibition and inform the public on what it would be. We will be taking and editing all of the photo's ourselves, and should try to make each one feel different and individual along with the others, so that they remain interesting.

Lesson 4

Vladimir Shipulin generally takes close ups on still life photography, he often uses a darker background with all light coming from a single source that isn't in shot.

Photographic elements can often be favoured by certain photographers, for example Floris Neusüss only takes black and white photos that are very minimalist. this makes his style very recognisable, so that people can compare his work to others and notice how his work can inspire other people.  He uses Photograms instead of photos to create these dark images, however instead of just using a small object like with most people who create photograms, he instead uses people placing them in various positions that create an interesting and sometimes monstrous effect that is a unique twist on the concept.

Another example of a photographer with a strong sense of what photographic elements they like to use is Dan Arkle, who has created his own style of photography, which he calls "Little Planets".
